Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation to Donate $100K to Charities

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Four Tampa, Fla.-area non-profit organizations will receive early gifts on Dec. 8, as each unwraps a $25,000 check from the Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation at a foundation event.

Winn-Dixie president, c.e.o., and chairman of the board Peter Lynch will be on hand for the event. Joining him will be Dave Henry, Winn-Dixie s.v.p. of marketing and president of Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation, as well as representatives from America's Second Harvest of Tampa Bay, American Cancer Society Hope Lodge, ENLACE, and American Cancer Society Relay for Life Florida Partnership.

The donations are a part of a five-stop tour of Winn-Dixie's operating area. Other stops on the tour include Orlando, Jacksonville, Miami, and New Orleans, where additional $25,000 donations will be made to various charities.

The chain created the non-profit Winn-Dixie Stores Foundation in 1944. It makes grants to local non-profit organizations focused on hunger, children and youth activities, education, and health initiatives. The foundation funded by The Winn-Dixie Charity Classic presented by Wachovia golf tournament, the most recent of which was held Nov. 2, generating $1.3 million.
