Winn-Dixie Starts Closing Sales at 257 Stores

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Store closing sales began last week at 257 Winn-Dixie and SaveRite supermarkets located in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Virginia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana.

The company is offering discounts of 30 to 50 percent, on more than $200 million worth of goods, according to Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers, the two companies that are conducting the sales for the bankrupt chain. In addition to the consumer products, store fixtures and equipment are up for sale at "attractive prices" in most closing locations, the companies said.

Hilco Merchant Resources, based in Northbrook, Ill., provides high-yield strategic retail inventory disposition and store closing services. The company is part of the Hilco Organization, a provider of asset valuation, acquisition, disposition, and financing services.

Gordon Brothers Group, which is headquartered in Boston, provides global advisory, operating, and financial services to companies at times of growth or restructuring.
