Winn-Dixie Receives Miami Community Service Proclamation

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. today received public recognition for its service and commitment to the City of Miami, particularly in the Liberty City community.

At a specially-convened Miami City Hall ceremony, City of Miami's mayor Manny Diaz and commissioner Michelle Spence-Jones presented the Proclamation to Winn-Dixie. Miami's District 5 community maintains many small, local grocers; Winn-Dixie operates the only major grocery store in Liberty City area.

Winn-Dixie said it received this special recognition for the service it provides inside the store, for the company's longstanding commitment to hiring young people from the community, and for its support of the many Liberty City neighborhood organizations, including the Optimist Club, the Liberty City Trust, and the Northwestern High School band.

Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., is headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla. It operates 520 retail grocery stores, including more than 400 in-store pharmacies, in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, and Mississippi.
