Winn-Dixie Gets Court Approval to Reject Leases
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A federal bankruptcy judge on Friday granted Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. approval to reject leases on three distribution centers, two dairies, and a pizza company. The latest approval will save the bankrupt company $700,000 a month, according to an Associated Press report.
The lease rejections were granted for distribution centers in Atlanta, Charlotte, N.C., and Greenville, S.C.; dairies in Greenville, S.C. and High Point, N.C.; and a pizza plant in Montgomery, Ala. Under federal bankruptcy law, Winn-Dixie is able to reject leases for stores, distribution centers, and other facilities it no longer needs as it moves toward reorganization.
