WinCo Foods to Open Two New Nevada Stores

Regional independent WinCo Foods, LLC plans to open two new discount supermarkets in the greater Las Vegas market Sunday, March 4. Each store is approximately 94,000 square feet in size and will employ approximately 200 individuals, most of whom have been hired locally.

WinCo is an employee owned company and aims to be the supermarket low price leader in each of the markets where it operates. The stores will be run by WinCo veterans Sharon Guined (Henderson, Nev. store) and Jason Stopher (Las Vegas store). Guined is a 26 year employee who has worked in several stores in Oregon and transfers to Henderson from Eugene, Ore., where she was store manager. Stopher has worked for WinCo for nearly 13 years and transfers from Twin Falls, Idaho, where he was a store manager.

The two new stores will feature the typical WinCo layouts: As customers enter each store they'll see a large "Wall of Values" featuring special low pricing on a wide variety of popular items. Moving onto the main floor of the store, they’ll find the seafood and meat, deli and bakery departments, a large fresh produce department and a large and unique bulk foods department. The bulk foods section displays over 600 items, including many natural food products, some organics, snacks, candies and more.

Founded in 1967, WinCo operates 82 stores and four distribution centers in the states of Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon and Utah.
