Winco Foods to Open 2 Stores
BOISE, Idaho - Employee-owned independent WinCo Foods, LLC plans to open two new discount supermarkets in California Monday, its 23rd and 24th in the state.
Each store - one located in Visalia, and the other in Fontana -- is approximately 96,000-square-feet, and will employ about 225 associates.
Dan Casteneda, a 23 year WinCo Foods veteran, will run the Visalia store, transferring from the company's Salem, Ore. location. Stan Wille, an 18 year WinCo Foods employee, will transfer from the company's Pomona, Calif. Store to the new Fontana. Unit.
The company said the new stores will each feature a large "Wall of Values" near the entrance, a new department for the retailer.
Both locations will also feature a bulk foods department with more than 600 items, including natural and organic food products, snacks, and candies.
WinCo operates 56 stores and three distribution centers in the states of Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, and Oregon.
