Whole Foods Wants to Be 'Destination Summer'

Leading natural and organic foods retailer Whole Foods Market last week launched a campaign called "Destination Summer" to celebrate summer eating across America, whether it be at backyard barbecues, family picnics, or dinner parties al fresco. The campaign focuses on grilling with locally grown foods.

Whole Foods kicked off the summerlong promotions with a sweepstakes to win Weber Grills and a VIP concert trip for Farm Aid 2008, along with a recipe-filled "Destination Summer" grilling guide, available in all Whole Foods stores in the United States.

Whole Foods stores will be featuring select regional and local recipes, seasonal ingredients, food experts, and local farmers and producers. The free grilling guide offers a "road map of great summer meals," according to the retailer, and includes tips from Whole Foods resident foodies, as well as foremost grilling experts such as Bobby Flay, host of the Food Network program "Boy Meets Grill."

A series of in-store guides and a web travelogue, www.wholefoodsmarket.com/destinationsummer, will provide a closer look at American favorites, from organic blueberry pie to grilled corn on the cob.
