Whole Food Launches Fresh Apple App

6/18/2009
Whole Foods Market has introduced an iPhone app for customers looking to prep healthy meals on the go. The free application, for iPhone and iPod touch, features more than 2,000 recipes using the grocer’s natural and organic products.

The application, available on the AppStore, includes searches by ingredients, special diets, price and more personalized requests such as the “family friendly” or “budget” search. Each Whole Foods recipe contains instructions and nutritional information, which can be saved under “favorites” and e-mailed using the app.

The “On Hand” feature allows customers to enter ingredients and receive feedback. “We’re delighted to provide iPhone and iPod touch users with yet another way to explore their passion for food and health,” said Bill Tolany, global coordinator of integrated media for Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods. “We’re particularly excited about the On Hand feature as a way to answer the ever-so-popular ‘What’s for dinner?’ question.”

In addition, the app provides customers with a store locator to view maps and find the nearest Whole Foods, via ZIP code search or iPhone location finder. Customers can also find operating hours, addresses, directions, and specials on each store page.
