Weis Markets Unveils New Round of Price Freezes

As many across the country have braced themselves amid winter's icy chill, Weis Markets is bringing cool comfort to its customers with a new round of product price freezes.

The Sunbury, Pa.-based grocery chain has rolled out the 12th round of price freezes for more than 2,000 products at its 163 supermarkets. The new discounted prices will remain in effect for 90 days. Since the company began its price freeze initiative six years ago, Weis reports, its customers have saved more than $50 million. The current program began Jan. 4 and runs through April 5.

“We first launched the Price Freeze program in 2009 as a way to help our customers lock in savings on many of the grocery and household products they use everyday,” said Brian Holt, Weis' VP of advertising and marketing. “Since then, the program has proven extremely effective, providing shoppers with consistent savings on the products they value.”

Weis’ current Price Freeze program includes name brand and private brand products in grocery, frozen, dairy, meat, health, beauty care and general merchandise. Customers can identify Price Freeze items through store signage and shelf tags for participating items, as well as in weekly circulars.

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets Inc. operates 163 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
