Weis Markets Adds New Dist. Mgr. for Md., W.V.
Janice Brown has joined Weis Markets as its new district manager for 13 stores in Western Maryland and West Virginia, in which capacity she will have day-to-day supervisory oversight of the Sunbury, Pa.-based regional grocer’s stores in and around Frederick and Hagerstown, Md., along with the company’s two stores in West Virginia.
Reporting to regional VP Mike Mignola and recognized in 2008 as one of Progressive Grocer’s Top Women in Grocery, Brown joins Weis from Schenectady, N.Y.-based Price Chopper, where she was also a district manager. Previously, she worked for Wegmans, Giant-Carlisle and Kroger in such positions as store manager, center store specialist and regional nonperishable manager.
Brown holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Norfolk University and an MBA from the University of West Virginia.
Weis Markets operates 164 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia.
