Weis Expands Pharmacy Delivery Service
SUNBURY, Pa. -- Weis Markets Inc. here expanded its free pharmacy delivery service to three additional Harrisburg, Pa.-area stores, after a successful test at several stores in June.
Weis Markets originally tested the pharmacy delivery service in York, Pa. about 18 months ago; and in this past June, rolled out the service to five additional Eastern Harrisburg area store locations.
It was unclear if Weis plans to add more locations for additional free pharmacy delivery in the future. A spokesman for the chain did not respond to requests for additional information yesterday. According to local published reports, the pharmacies in the program offer free delivery of medications Monday through Friday within a three-mile radius.
As a service business that lends to "far more interactive" customer relationships "than virtually any other part of the store," Weis said in a statement it is adding free deliveries as "a natural extension of good service at the pharmacy center."
Weis Markets Inc. operates 158 stores in five states: Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York; and West Virginia, where it now operates two stores. Weis Markets also owns SuperPetz, a pet supply superstore chain with 31 locations in ten states.
