Wegmans Said to Mull Health Clinics

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Wegmans is reportedly considering opening in-store medical clinics at some of its locations.

The grocer is discussing the matter with the Monroe County Medical Society (MCMS), according to reports on the Web sites of local TV stations.

The MCMS' Nancy Adams noted that Wegmans was "in the process of selecting stores here in Rochester" for installing clinics, according to News 10NBC. She added that a Buffalo, N.Y-based company called Be Well had been approached to run the clinic, while St. John Fisher College's nursing school was asked to staff them with nurse practitioners.

Wegmans reportedly sounded a more cautious note about its progress, however. "It's a concept we are exploring, but we have no decisions nor have we reached any agreements with outside organizations," the retailer told the TV station.
