Food safety issues are widespread. A recent Food Safety Study from Sensormatic and Progressive Grocer found that 56% of surveyed shoppers had experienced a food safety issue in the past. Over one in four (28%) experienced an issue in the last year.
Across all categories, shoppers face concerns about cleanliness, availability and other food safety considerations and retailers have been tasked with modernizing their approach to these challenges. Despite shifting buying behaviors and the dynamic nature of the food retail industry, food health and safety remains a top priority.
