Walmart Provides Cool Ice Cream Deals
To help American families enjoy the ultimate summer treat, Walmart is offering ice cream at low prices throughout the season, as part of its price rollback program. Additionally, the mega-retailer is featuring an assortment of easy recipes highlighting ice cream, among them many that can be prepared for 99 cents or under per serving.
As a way to mark the arrival of warmer weather, Walmart held a national “Free Ice Cream Sundae” celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at over 2,000 Walmart locations across the country, where families could sample free exclusive ice cream flavors and load up on all the fixings to create a sundae.
“By shopping at Walmart for ice cream and toppings, moms will save significantly over taking their families out for ice cream,” noted Tyler Lehr, senior director for Walmart’s frozen foods. “Sundae night can become a favorite activity for the family that doesn’t break the bank.”
Celebrity moms will also get in on Walmart’s ice cream action. First up is Melissa d’Arabian, mother of four and host of Food Network’s “Ten Dollar Dinners,” whose creation appeared online May 23. Sundae aficionados can visit Walmart.com/icecream each Sunday through June 20 to get the next sundae recipe from a famous frozen dessert fan and make it at home.
Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. operates more than 8,400 retail units under 55 banners in 15 countries.
