Walmart Honors Innovative Retail Marketer

Walmart Financial Services presented Kendal King Group with Innovation award at the Bentonville, Ark.-based mega-retailer’s annual Supplier Awards earlier this month. Kansas City, Mo.-based Kendal King Group, which specializes in retail marketing solutions for retailers and brands, received the honor for its 2010 work on MoneyCard displays. The company was one of four so honored at the event.

When federal regulations mandating the separation of gift cards and pre-paid cards at retail meant that Walmart had to find a new way to display both at checkout, the company turned to Kendal King, which within 40 days was able to design and deliver more than 40,000 new displays for the retailer’s use.

“It was not an easy project, but one we are extremely proud of completing for Walmart,” said Landon Nobles, Kendal King’s COO. “Our close relationship with Walmart served us well as we navigated the constraints and requirements to complete the project in such a short time.”

Kendal King’s “unfailing support and excellent customer service” were cited in the award nomination as just two reasons for the award. The nomination also extolled the supplier’s dedication to its customer: “This team exemplifies Walmart’s three basic beliefs – respect for the individual, service to the customer and striving for excellence. This team would constantly come up with in creative solutions on … tight notice, to meet the display requirements that would put Walmart [in] compliance of the regulation, as well as meet the front end display guidelines. The team has consistently gone above and beyond to meet Walmart’s needs.”
