Walkers Shortbread Names New President/C.E.O.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. -- Walkers Shortbread, Inc., a subsidiary of Walkers Shortbread Ltd. of Aberlour, Scotland, said yesterday it has named Steve Dawson its new president and c.e.o. Dawson succeeds Norman Barnes, who is retiring after 12 years in the role.

Dawson has lived in the United States since 1993. Since 1998 he has owned and managed FFB North America, a consulting company based in New York that offers strategic and marketing services to U.K. food and beverage companies.

His previous management experience includes buying and merchandising roles at WH Smith, plc and Avon Products; various marketing positions at United Biscuits in the United Kingdom and the United States; and Keebler Co. in Chicago, as marketing manager for the Carr's brand.

Dawson said no other changes to the Walkers Shortbread management team are expected.

Under the leadership of Barnes, Walkers Shortbread more than doubled its presence in the United Sates and expanded from specialty stores into many other trade channels.
