Wal-Mart Butters Up Thanksgiving with Rollbacks on Food

BENTONVILLE, Ark. - Wal-Mart said yesterday it is introducing additional price "rollbacks" on hundreds of fresh and dry grocery items in time for last-minute Thanksgiving shoppers. The retailer said it will discount many items as much as 20 percent.

Wal-Mart said it will reduce prices on various selections, ranging from holiday hors d'oeuvres and meats, to chocolates. This is the fifth set in a series of price cuts on thousands of key holiday entertaining and gift items.

"The holiday season is about spending time with family and friends, and many of those gatherings are focused around food," said Bruce Peterson, Wal-Mart Stores s.v.p. for the perishable food division, in a statement. "Wal-Mart wants to help our customers have the holiday meals and get-togethers they'll remember at an affordable price."

Featured food items, rolled back through the holiday season, include:
