Vidalia Onion Committee Getting Trivial with Produce Managers
The Vidalia Onion Committee is fielding the Original Sweet Onion Trivia Contest playfully educates consumers about the pioneer of all sweet onions and, in the process, pushes retail sales.
The Web-driven contest quizzes participants on fun facts and the rich history of those sweet Vidalia onions from Georgia. For each correct answer about the famed hand-planted and hand-harvested onions, participants are rewarded with a chance to win an all-expense-paid trip for four to beautiful, historic Savannah, Ga.
"This contest is a lighthearted, interactive way for our consumers to learn more about their favorite sweet onion," said Wendy Brannen, executive director, Vidalia Onion Committee. "And, the more consumers learn about Vidalias, the more likely they are to repeat purchase at the retail level."
