Vermonter Wins $1M in Shaw’s Sizzlin’ Summer Giveaway

Tanya Lewis of Burlington, Vt., has won the $1 million grand prize in Shaw’s Supermarkets’ Sizzlin’ Summer Giveaway Collect & Win Game. Lewis, who regularly shops at the Shaw’s store in Colchester, Vt., said she would like use her winnings to buy a house and save for her future.

The contest, which bowed May 18, enabled Shaw’s customers to collect game tickets for a chance to win prizes such prizes as cars, boats, vacations, backyard makeovers, one year’s worth of groceries, gift cards, and instant cash prizes, as well as the $1 million. Lewis, the contest’s biggest winner to date, was presented with a check at the Colchester Shaw’s.

“The Sizzlin’ Summer Giveaway Collect and Win Game was designed to engage our customers and provide them an exciting chance to have some fun shopping at Shaw's while offering a chance to win some great prizes,” said Mike Stigers, president of the West Bridgewater, Mass.-based chain, which along with sister banners Osco and Star Market, is part of Supervalu in Minneapolis.

During the contest’s promotion period, customers received game tickets when they purchased special products, or made a request by mail.
