U.S. Tuna Industry Unveils New Web Site

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Tuna Foundation here has launched a new Web site to showcase up-to-date information about canned tuna, its nutritional benefits, and its importance to a healthy diet.

The release of the Web site comes at a time when many researchers, academic institutions, leading public health organizations, and U.S. government agencies -- including the American Heart Association, the Centers for Disease Control, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, among many others -- are urging Americans to incorporate more fish into their diets because of its proven health benefits.

"It is well-established that eating fish -- including canned tuna -- is central to a well-balanced diet," said Anne Forristall Luke, president of the U.S. Tuna Foundation. "Our new Web site is designed to be a one-stop resource for consumers looking for facts about tuna and ways they can increase their health by eating more fish." Web site, she notes, includes the latest information and studies from researchers, health and nutrition experts, and government agencies showing why canned tuna is an easy and affordable way of incorporating fish into diets.
