United Supermarkets Ups the Ante on Training

LUBBOCK, Texas -- In a bid to beef up its training, regional operator United Supermarkets, Ltd. here has selected a learning management system from Santa Monica, Calif.-based Cornerstone OnDemand, Inc.

United will be using Cornerstone Learning to optimize its training programs, accelerate on-boarding of new hires, and improve retention of its 8,500 employees. The retailer will also be able to support its internal and regulatory compliance requirements.

"We needed a solution that could successfully develop all our team members across all stores, while enabling simple management of the process from one location," said Tom Weis, director of training for United, in a statement.

Now in its 91st year of operation, United Supermarkets serves 26 markets throughout north and west Texas. The company operates 46 stores under three distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street, and Super Mercado.
