United Supermarkets Introduces Private Label Wine

United Supermarkets, LLC has expanded its private label lineup with the rollout this past weekend of the first of three Market Street branded wines.

Hailing “from the Vineyards of Market Street,” Patio Sangria is available at all 42 of the Lubbock, Texas-based grocer’s stores that carry beer and wine. Additionally, two table wines, Farm to Market Red and Farm to Market White, are due on United’s shelves in the next few weeks.

The wines are the fruit of the United’s collaboration with Lubbock-based McPherson Cellars Winery and winemaker Kim McPherson. Patio Sangria is the third such product from McPherson, who has also created private label versions for two restaurants.

Retailing for an economical $6.99 a bottle, Patio Sangria was developed to pair well with spicy food such as the Tex-Mex dishes popular in Texas, according to United.

The sangria’s label features a painting, “Escape,” created especially for the wine by noted local artist Carol C. Howell.

Family-owned United, a self-distributing company, operates 50 stores under three distinct formats: United Supermarkets, Market Street and Amigos United.
