United Fresh Seeking Top Produce Manager Nominees
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United Fresh Produce Association here said it is now accepting applications for its annual Retail Produce Manager Awards Program. Now in its third year, the program will honor 20 store-level produce managers and include their corporate produce directors in formal recognition at the Fresh Marketplace show in Chicago, May 5-8, 2007.
"The support from supermarket executives to honor their front-line produce staff has been tremendous," said United Fresh president Tom Stenzel. "Last year more than a dozen retail supermarket CEOs and their vice presidents attended the awards ceremony to show their support for their winners. We're seeing what a difference great employees, empowered by their management can make in store sales."
For the third straight year, Ready Pac, Inc. will be the sole sponsor of the Retail Produce Manager Awards Program. "These front-line produce experts can have a dramatic, positive impact on purchasing behavior, and thus our overall industry growth," said Ready Pac c.e.o. Dennis Gertmenian.
All United Fresh retail member companies are eligible to submit applications, as well as member produce companies and commissions whose work with retailers gives them insight into the top store level managers nationwide.
