United Fresh '08 Expo to Have Organic Pavilion

WASHINGTON, D.C. - With the shift of the United Fresh Marketplace and FMI shows from Chicago to Las Vegas, for May 4-7, 2008, United said it will add a new Organic Produce Pavilion to the Marketplace show floor. Meanwhile, the All Things Organic show, which had co-located with United and FMI for the past four years, will remain in Chicago.

"It is clear that supermarket retail management and produce buyers will be looking for organic produce in Las Vegas at our produce marketing and merchandising event," said United Fresh president Tom Stenzel.

"Organic produce is bought by produce buyers and merchandised by produce teams rather than generic organic buyers of meats, packaged goods, and clothing," added Jerry Welcome, United Fresh's e.v.p.

In other news, United Fresh said it has accepted 12 new members in Produce Industry Leadership Program, now its 13th year. Presented through the United Fresh Research & Education Foundation and sponsored by a grant from DuPont Crop Protection, the program has graduated more than 140 program participants since its inception in 1995.
