Unilever Forms Ice Cream Grocery Sales Division

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Less than four months after the announcement of a unified Out-of-Home Sales Division, Good Humor-Breyers Ice Cream and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream have announced the formation of a unified Grocery Sales Division.

Effective April 1, 2003, the new organization brings together the talents and resources of both companies in grocery. The new Unilever Ice Cream Grocery Sales Division will represent the five Unilever North American Ice Cream brands, which include Ben & Jerry's, Breyers, Good Humor, Popsicle, and Klondike.

"This new Grocery Sales Division represents a complementary move to that already made for Out-of-Home channels. It marks another key event in the evolution of Unilever's Ice Cream business in the United States," said Eric Walsh, chairman, Unilever North American Ice Cream. "Now, for all the trade channels in which we operate, we can present one face to the customer and provide both unequaled brand power and category expertise."

The formation of the new division will entail a move to a broker organization for Ben & Jerry's, which will align itself with Good Humor-Breyers through Advantage Sales and Marketing. The Unilever Ice Cream Grocery Sales division will be led by Joe Colligan, currently VP of grocery sales for Good Humor-Breyers, and will report to the boards of both businesses.
