Unified Western Grocers Installs Software to Optimize Business Processes

COMMERCE, Calif. - Regional wholesaler Unified Western Grocers recently completed the installation of a new enterprise-wide software platform to help strengthen its compliance efforts and boost its customer service levels to its base of independent grocers.

The wholesaler installed the Enterprise Financial Management suite from Lawson Software, St. Paul, Minn. to streamline and track key financial data, and provide a foundation for future implementations of Lawson Accounts Payable and Lawson Procurement, which are developed to generate process improvements and staff savings.

"The new Lawson applications and technology platform are helping us streamline our administrative and compliance processes while retaining the simplicity of an integrated business system," said Rick Lockwood, director, system support services, UWG.

A Lawson customer since 1996, Unified completed its migration from Lawson 7.1 to Lawson System Foundation 9.0 in mid 2006. Since that time, the company has completed implementation of the Lawson Human Capital Management and Enterprise Financial Management suites.

UWG is a retailer-owned wholesale grocery cooperative that supplies 2,500 independent retailer grocery stores throughout the Western United States, and employs approximately 3,300 associates.
