Tyson’s College Basketball Promo Enables Retailers to Score

Consumers have many ways to save on Tyson deli products and can enter to win prizes during the company’s 2011 college basketball tournament-themed promotion, which runs through April 15.

Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson Foods Inc. has teamed up with T. Marzetti Co. of Columbus, Ohio, for the “Flavorful Four” campaign, which rolled out to about 7,000 stores and online at TysonFlavorfulFour.com. During the promotion, shoppers can save on Tyson Wings and Boneless Wings plus Marzetti dips. In-store POS features a two-dimensional bar code that consumers can snap with their smartphones to enter the sweepstakes directly from a mobile device. Website visitors who vote for their favorite wing and dip combinations are entered to win instant prizes and for a shot at the grand prize of an all-expenses-paid trip to a college basketball game of their choice.

Additionally, through April 4, consumers can play for a chance to win prizes on Facebook in the “Are You Game” DeliAnytime Challenge in which participants can qualify just by "Liking" DeliAnytime on Facebook. Every game day during the basketball tournament, a newly revealed challenge will give players the chance to win such prizes as coupons, gift cards and Tyson deli products.

“Social networking sites like Facebook are a fun way to enhance consumers' experience with our products from the retailer's deli," noted Eric Le Blanc, director of sales development for Tyson Deli.

Added Le Blanc: “Tyson enjoys a wonderful partnership with Marzetti. Wings and dips are a natural addition to a … tournament party at home.”
