Tyson Names Group Consumer Products VP; Realigns Execs

SPRINGDALE, Ark. -- Tyson Foods, Inc. here named Donnie Smith, a long-time senior executive, as group v.p./consumer products. Most recently Tyson's group v.p./logistics and operations services, Smith has nearly 30 years of experience in the food industry and has been part of the Tyson team since 1980 in a wide variety of key roles, the company said.

Smith is replacing Scott McNair, in the head position in Tyson Consumer Products. McNair will join The Schwan Food Co. as president of the company's home delivery business unit.

Smith started his career in poultry operations, and became a senior leader in the purchasing and supply chain departments. Later as c.i.o., he led the company's development of a new information technology strategic plan.

Hal Carper, s.v.p./corporate research and development, will assume most of Smith's previous duties. Carper's new title will be group v.p./research and development, logistics and technical services. Craig Bacon, v.p./research and development, will become s.v.p./corporate research
and development and will continue to report to Carper.

Also, Ted Burnett, v.p./manufacturing services, will remain in his current position, but will report to Donnie King, group v.p./operations.
