Two Brookshire’s Produce Managers to be Recognized at UFPA Event

Two Brookshire’s produce managers have been selected as national winners in the 2011 Retail Produce Managers Awards Program.

Brad Lange, produce manager at the Line Avenue store in Shreveport, La., and an 11-year employee, and Jake Foster, a 12-year employee and currently produce manager at the store in Athens, Texas, have won trips to the United Fresh Produce Association’s 2011 Convention and Expo, set for May 2-5 in New Orleans.

“We are extremely pleased and proud of Brad and Jake,” said Mark Walden, VP-category management Brookshire’s Division 4. “They are both customer service champions and innovative merchandisers who promote fresh produce and product knowledge on a consistent basis.”

The pair will be among 25 award winners, selected from some 250 entries from across the United States and Canada. They will be honored at the annual United Fresh Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 4, where five grand prize winners will be announced as recipients of $1,000 cash prizes.

Brookshire Grocery Co. operates 151 stores in three states — Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas — with three distribution centers and seven manufacturing facilities.
