Tops Purchasing Local Grocery Store
Tops Markets is purchasing Furnal’s Fresh Market in Hilton, N.Y., with the deal slated to close in the next 30 days. The store will then undergo a major renovation over the next few months, including new interior and exterior signage, an updated storefront and refreshed décor.
“Furnal’s Fresh Market has served the Hilton community for many years, and we plan to continue the tradition of providing shoppers with an exceptional shopping experience,” said Frank Curci, president and CEO of Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops, which operates 132 supermarkets -- 126 company-owned and six franchise locations – in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania, and employs more than 14,000 associates. “Customers will see increased variety, and exceptional value and savings in an overall enhanced store setting.”
The store has served the Hilton community for 41 years, according to owner Rick Furnal. The approximately 32 full-time and 50 part-time employees at the store have all been given the option of applying for continued employment with Tops.
Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
