Tops Honored as Business of the Year

Tops Markets LLC has received CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity’s (CenterState CEO’s) Business of the Year Award in the “more than 50 employee” category. The award honors companies that have not only achieved growth, but have also gone above and beyond in the past year to distinguish themselves as leaders in the business community.

Tops was among three finalists in the category. Judging criteria included financial performance, innovation and commitment to the community, with the final selection made by a committee of local business leaders. The grocer received the award April 8 at CenterState CEO’s annual meeting at the Nicholas J. Pirro Convention Center in Syracuse, N.Y.

With more than 2,000 members, CenterState CEO, a 12-county business leadership and economic development organization based in Syracuse, works to achieve regional growth and total community prosperity via partnerships, planning and problem solving.

Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops operates 155 full-service supermarkets – 150 company-owned and five franchise locations -- under the Tops, Grand Union and Bryant's banners in upstate New York, northern Pennsylvania and western Vermont.
