Tops Appoints Former Borders Group Head Board Member
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. -- Tops Markets, LLC here has named Gregory Josefowicz, former chairman, president, and c.e.o. of Borders Group, Inc., to its board of directors.
According to Gary Matthews, managing director of Morgan Stanley Private Equity and Tops chairman, "His extensive leadership experience and wide network within the grocery and retail industries will be extremely valuable as we move ahead with our immediate plans to augment Tops’ local infrastructure and grow the brand."
Before joining Borders Group, Josefowicz was president of the Midwest region of Albertson's, Inc, held several senior positions at Jewel Food Stores, and served as a director of Spartan Stores, Inc. He’s currently a director of Winn-Dixie; PetSmart, Inc.; and Telephone Data & Systems.
Other members of Tops' board include c.e.o. Frank Curci, Matthews, and Geoff Strong of Morgan Stanley Private Equity, which took ownership of Tops in December 2007.
Tops operates 71 full-service supermarkets and five franchise supermarkets, and has over 10,000 associates.
