Supervalu Selects NCR Self-Checkout
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - Food retailer and leading food distributor Supervalu Inc. has announced plans to pilot self-checkout technology from NCR Corporation.
"This is an exciting initiative for our company," said Supervalu VP of retail information technology John Eversman.
Supervalu will begin deployment by installing the NCR FastLane solution in seven stores in Chicago, St. Paul/Minneapolis and St. Louis during the fourth quarter of 2002. Five of the sites are Cub Food stores and two are Shop `n Save stores.
"We anticipate rolling out self-checkout in additional stores next year," Eversman added.
