Supervalu EVP/CFO Knous Named Twin Cities' Heart Health Campaign Chair
MINNEAPOLIS -- Pamela Knous, e.v.p./c.f.o. for Supervalu based here, was selected as campaign chair for the American Heart Association's 2008 Twin Cities Go Red For Women campaign.
Knous will lead the charge to raise funds throughout the community to support local cardiovascular research and educational programs designed to drive home the message that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of American women and to inspire women to commit to a heart-healthy lifestyle.
"Go Red For Women celebrates the energy, passion and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease. I'm honored to support this important cause, which impacts mothers, sisters, neighbors, friends and women in all walks of life," said Knous, who simultaneously announced Supervalu's contribution of $50,000 to help support this year's campaign.
"As the chief financial officer of Supervalu...Pam Knous is a demonstrated leader," said Kay Ulwelling, Twin Cities Go Red For Women director. "Pam's commitment to fostering corporate philanthropy and wellness and her success in reaching our female audience will help bring Go Red For Women to new heights."
The Go Red For Women Campaign strives to bring attention to heart disease, which kills over 480,000 women a year, about one per minute. Over the past four years, the Twin Cities campaign has raised nearly $1 million.
Knous has been with Supervalu since 1997 and oversees finance, information technology and investor relations for the retailer. Previously, she was e.v.p., c.f.o. and treasurer of The Vons Cos. and was a partner in the Los Angeles office of KPMG Peat Marwick.
