Super Bi-Lo Opens in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

MAULDIN, S.C. -- Southeastern grocer Bi-Lo opened a new Super Bi-Lo store in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. yesterday.

The 48,500-square-foot store, located at 3924 Highway 17 South, is less than half a mile from a former Bi-Lo supermarket. It will anchor Barefoot Commons, Myrtle Beach's newest neighborhood shopping center.

The store is part of a $10 million capital investment for the Grand Strand area that Bi-Lo announced late in 2006.

Super Bi-Lo is a larger format designed to provide many of the conveniences of one-stop shopping. "We listened to our customers, who said they wanted more store features," Bi-Lo regional v.p. Rusty Streetman said in comments prepared for the grand opening. "Super Bi-Lo offers an expanded organic selection in produce, fresh sushi daily, more seafood variety, and Certified Angus Beef in the meat department."

The store has a full-service floral department, with FTD services, as well as full-service meat and seafood departments. It also features a wing and olive bar, as well as a cafE seating area. It will be open 24 hours a day.

Bi-Lo operates 222 supermarkets in the Carolinas, Georgia, and Tennessee.
