Sunkist Campaign Takes on Cold & Flu Season
To stave off the colds and flu bugs that usually strike during the winter and early spring, Sunkist is filling grocery bins with vitamin C-rich oranges and lemons and collecting consumer tips from around the country on inventive ways to stay healthy by eating more fresh citrus.
“Research has shown that Sunkist citrus can help keep the body’s immune system in optimal condition during cold and flu season,” said Gina Widjaja, advertising and PR manager for Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based Sunkist Growers, a cooperative of family growers in operation since 1893. “We want to encourage consumers to get proactive about vitamin C consumption during this pesky season and make fresh oranges and lemons a part of their daily diet.”
Through March 2, fans can share their fresh health advice online for a chance to win their own cold and flu survival kit brimming with coupons, tips and more. To further spread the message of health, consumers can also send free personalized eCards to family and friends to tell them how to avoid catching colds or the flu.
