Sunflower Farmers Market To Open in Flagstaff

Sunflower Farmers Market has announced it will open a new full-service grocery store in Flagstaff, Ariz., by the end of the year. This Sunflower location will be the ninth in Arizona but the first in Flagstaff, and is expected to bring 100 jobs to the area.

Located adjacent to Northern Arizona University at 1560 S. Riordan Ranch St., the approximately 26,000-square-foot location will offer a locally grown and organic produce. Additionally, shoppers will find all-natural meats including grass-fed beef and handmade sausages, plus wild-caught seafood, bulk coffee beans, fresh-baked artisan breads, and fresh-to-go soups.

Grocery items addressing special dietary needs – including vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options will be available. The store will have a Natural Living department that will feature health and wellness products including skin care, vitamins and supplements.

“We’re thrilled to bring value-priced, healthy, natural and organic groceries to Flagstaff’s college students and families,” said Sunflower CEO, Chris Sherrell. “We’ve consistently been very well-received in University towns – like Tucson, Tempe, Orem, and Boulder, for example – and look forward to filling a similar demand in Flagstaff.”

Each Sunflower Farmers Market distributes a location-specific sale flyer each week which is available to preview online every Tuesday morning. Every Wednesday, the past week’s and current week’s sale flyers overlap, doubling the number of items on sale in the store. The concept is called “Double Ad Wednesday” and has proven to be very popular with Sunflower shoppers.

Based in Boulder, Colo., Sunflower Farmers Market currently operates 37 stores in eight states, including seven stores in Arizona. Sunflower also plans to open a new Phoenix location at 1625 E. Glendale Avenue later in the year.
