Stop & Shop Pulls Possibly Tainted Langostinos

In the wake of a voluntary recall from Boston-based seafood company Slade Gorton & Co., the Stop & Shop Supermarket Co. has pulled from store shelves all one-pound packages of frozen langostinos that could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall covers the IcyBay brand of frozen cooked langostinos with an expiration date of June 2009. The affected item has the UPC number 0-73129-61672-8. To date, Stop & Shop has not received any reports of illnesses in connection with the consumption of the product.

Stop & Shop employs over 59,000 associates and operates 389 stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, and New Jersey.
