Stop & Shop Family Foundation Holds Auction/Awards Reception
The Stop & Shop/Giant Family Foundation is playing host to an auction and awards reception related to its golf classic. The event will take place tonight at the Deutsche Bank Pavilion on aptly named Arnold Palmer Drive in Norton, Mass.
The foundation has an ongoing partnership with the Deutsche Bank Championship, a PGA Tour stop that features a $7 million purse and a $1.26 million winner’s check. This year Stop & Shop/Giant Family Foundation and Nestle have joined forces to donate $250,000 to the Championship’s Birdies for Charity program.
Nestle will donate five cents for each designated product sold at Stop & Shop Supermarket and Giant-Landover from Aug. 29, the first day of competitive play at the Deutsche Bank Championship, through Sept. 4 to the foundation via the “Birdies for Charity” program.
Among the designated products for promotion are Poland Spring water, Stouffer’s and Lean Cuisine, Hot Pockets, Edy’s ice cream, Coffee Mate, Juicy Juice, Nestle Tollhouse Morsels, Haggen-Dazs ice cream, Nestle fun-size candy, Nestle Tollhouse cookie dough, Edy’s fruit bars, San Pellegrino and Perrier beverages, Powerbar energy bars, Nesquik beverages, Fancy Feast cat food, Friskies cat food, Gerber baby food, and Gerber Graduates baby food.
The Ahold USA banner launched the foundation in late 2003 to support educational and recreational programs for children in communities served by Stop & Shop. The organization’s first golf classic was held the following year.
Stop & Shop and sister banner Giant-Landover last week introduced an image overhaul at their stores, including new logos, associate uniforms, prepared food items, technology, and a test checkout lane with healthy alternatives.
