Stonyfield Farm Program Helps 3 Green Groups

Organic dairy yogurt maker Stonyfield Farm has once again rolled out its “Bid with Your Lid” promotion, which asks shoppers to decide how much money will be donated to three environmental groups.

The public will cast votes online to determine the exact amount contributed to the Organic Center, the Center for Biological Diversity and the Energy Action Coalition. This year, the votes include extra loyalty point awards as part of the company’s myStonyfield Rewards program.

Through its Profits for the Planet (PFP) Program, Stonyfield annually donates 10 percent of its profits to environmental organizations. For 2009, the company will give a minimum $20,000 donation to each of the three participating groups, with an additional $40,000 - for a total donation of $100,000 -- divided among the three causes based on public voting.

“These groups will not only benefit from monetary support, but will also benefit from increased consumer awareness,” said Gary Hirshberg, president and “CE-Yo” of Londonderry, N.H.-based Stonyfield. “This year, consumers not only get to play an active role in rewarding these wonderful organizations, but they themselves will also be rewarded with points at the same time.”

During the month October, Stonyfield yogurt lids will feature a promotional message about the Bid with Your Lid program, and consumers can visit www.stonyfield.com to cast their one vote. If they wish to vote more than once, they can use the reward codes on the yogurts and enter them on the myStonyfield Rewards site. Voting ends Dec. 15, 2009.

The company has offered the fundraising promotion since 2004.
