Stew Leonard’s Selling Lottery Tickets
Stew Leonard’s has started selling Connecticut Lottery tickets at its Norwalk, Danbury and Newington stores, as of May 19. Mega Millions, Powerball, and Classic Lotto tickets are now available for purchase, as well as 31 varieties of scratch games.
The decision comes after decades of shopper requests. “Our customers have been asking us for years to sell lottery tickets, but we were always concerned that it would cause long lines at checkout,” explained Stew Leonard Jr., president and CEO of Norwalk-based Stew Leonard’s, which, in addition to its three Connecticut locations, operates a store in Yonkers, N.Y. “Now, because of the advances in technology, we’ll be able to sell tickets quickly at our customer service desk without impacting customers buying their groceries in the checkout lines.”
Stew Leonard’s associates have received training on how to activate and deactivate lottery tickets, operate the ticket-buying terminal, and provide educational information on the Connecticut’s rules and regulations relating to lottery sales.
Tickets cost between $1 and $30, and can be purchases by customers age 18 and over at the retailer’s new Lotto Barn at each Connecticut store’s customer service desk.
