Stew Leonard's to Offer On-site Physicals for Danbury, Conn., Associates
Stew Leonard’s is bringing a preventive health care initiative to Danbury, Conn. On Monday, Aug. 30 12 associates at the grocer’s location there will receive annual physicals performed by a medical team with Inter State Diagnostic, Inc.
“Stew Leonard’s surveyed our Team Members, and we found that a lack of time and not having a trusted doctor locally kept many from getting their yearly physicals,” explained Jill Leonard Tavello, EVP of culture and communications at Norwalk, Conn.-based Stew Leonard’s. “By bringing the doctors and nurses from Inter State Diagnostic directly to our store in Danbury, we hope to keep our Team Members healthy and reinforce the importance of preventive care.”
The examinations will take place in a conference room above the store, where employees will undergo blood tests, an EKG and complete physical. Huntington, N.Y.-based Inter State Diagnostic’s doctors and nurses will supply privacy screens and all necessary medical equipment, as well as answering any health questions. A translator for Spanish-speaking store associates will also be available.
“We hope as many Team Members as possible take advantage of the convenience of having their annual physical performed on-site at the store in Danbury,” noted Walter Watson, Stew Leonard’s director of safety and wellness. “Stew Leonard’s encourages all of our Team Members to make smart, healthy choices in their everyday lives, and a yearly physical is an important part of their overall well-being.”
The grocer has already arranged on-site physicals at its Norwalk and Yonkers, N.Y., stores.
