Steve Black Named President of Lucky’s Market

Lucky’s Market has named Steve Black president, effective immediately.

Bringing 38 years of retail experience to the role, Black previously was VP of operations, CIO and CMO of Sprouts Farmers Markets. He also has served as VP of operations, IT and marketing for Sunflower Farmers Market and was the transitional executive during the Sprouts/Sunflower merger. Previous experience includes Bruno’s Supermarkets and United Supermarkets, where he spent the bulk of his career.

This week, Lucky’s will open its eighth store in Gainesville, Fla., its first location in the state. The company also plans additional locations in Bloomington, Ind., Ann Arbor, Mich., Rock Hill, Mo., Jackson Hole, Wyo., and Iowa City, Iowa to join its original location in Boulder, Colo., as well as other stores in Columbia and Ellisville, Mo., Billings, Mont., Louisville, Ky., Longmont, Colo., and Columbus, Ohio.

In his new role, Black will be crucial to leading Lucky’s expansion plans as well as grooming new leaders in the company as it strives to become “the customer service driven retail grocery store of choice in the areas we serve,” Sharon said.
