Stater Bros. VP of Real Estate Dies

Mike Slaton, Stater Bros. vice president of Real Estate, died suddenly on Sept. 28. He was 51.

As a tribute to Slaton, the grocer’s new 44,000-square-foot store, which opened last week in Redlands, Calif., will be dedicated in his honor.

“Mike was a very loyal and committed member of the Stater Bros. Family and started his career with Stater Bros. as a Courtesy Clerk in Redlands, California when he was 16 years old,” said Jack H. Brown, chairman and CEO of San Bernardino, Calif.-based Stater Bros. “His contributions to our company were immeasurable and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”

The family has requested donations in Slaton’s honor be made to Stater Bros. Charities and a scholarship fund will be set up in his name at California State University, San Bernardino, his alma mater.

According to The Sun, visitation will be held at Cortner Chapel, 221 Brookside Ave., in Redlands from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4. Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Pathway Church, 611 E. Cypress Ave., also in Redlands.
