Stater Bros. Raises $335K for Muscular Dystrophy

COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. Supermarkets raised $355,280 this year to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association, bringing the privately-owned regional grocery chain's total donations over the 20 consecutive years it has worked with MDA to nearly $4 million.

Stater Bros. management presented a check for the donated amount during the annual MDA Telethon on Labor Day weekend. "This fund-raising effort by our customers, employees, and the company will assist those with neuromuscular diseases in the communities we serve," said Jack H. Brown, chairman and c.e.o. of Stater Bros. Markets.

Stater Bros. participated in the MDA Aisles of Smiles for Jerry's Kids campaign this past August. During the campaign, customers and employees of Stater Bros. raised funds by purchasing participating products and $1 mobiles. Funds raised will be used for research and to provide services for local families dealing with neuromuscular diseases.

Stater Bros. has supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association since 1986. The retailer currently operates 161 Supermarkets in California.
