All 161 Stater Bros. supermarkets accepted donations from September 1st through September 18th to support the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts by the American Red Cross. Customers contributed by adding the monetary amount they wanted to give to their checkout total or by dropping off checks made payable to the American Red Cross.

In addition, Stater Bros. partnered with local television stations CBS-2 and KCAL-9 in a two-day fundraiser on September 1 and 2. The fundraiser added approximately $1,000,000 to the total funds raised by Stater Bros.
