Stater Bros. Honors 586 Employees at Annual Service Awards Banquet

Stater Bros. saluted a record 586 employees at its 23rd annual Family Service Awards banquet, a once-a-year event that honors company associates who have reached a milestone number of years of continuous service with the Southern California regional supermarket chain. All told, Stater Bros. has honored 4,845 employees since the first event in 1987.

“With America experiencing the worst economy since the Great Depression, it is a great testament to the hard work and dedication of the Stater Bros. family of employees that we are able to honor our long-term employees and continue to have more employees working for the company each year,” noted Jack H. Brown, chairman/CEO of the San Bernardino, Calif.-based grocer.

Stater Bros. bestows the annual awards to employees reaching five, 10 and 15 years of service with a gold pin that signifies their years of service. Those with 20 or more years are invited to the Family Service Awards banquet once every five years. During this year’s banquet at the Riverside Convention Center last month, every employee was introduced and had their photos taken with Brown, who personally presented each of them with their Family Service Awards pins.

With annual sales in 2008 of $3.74 billion, Stater Bros. operates 167 supermarkets and employs over 19,000 associates.
