Stater Bros. Donates to Firefighters Family Relief Fund

COLTON, Calif. - Stater Bros. chairman and c.e.o. Jack H. Brown earlier this week presented a $25,000 check to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors for the Esperanza Firefighters Family Relief Fund to help provide assistance to the families of the five U. S. Forest Service firefighters killed battling the Esperanza Fire in Riverside County. To date, the fund has grown to over $400,000.

In addition, Stater Bros. has offered to provide complete holiday meals for both Thanksgiving and Christmas to the five families devastated by this tragedy.

Brown worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a member of the "Del Rosa Hot Shots" while he was in college, and has great respect for today's firefighters and their bravery. "One of the firefighters lost in this tragedy is the son of our Mira Loma store manager Tim Hoover," said Brown. "The prayers of the Stater Bros. employees go out to all the families of those lost or injured."

In addition, Stater Bros. and Honeysuckle White Turkey More To Share program will donate turkeys this Thanksgiving to the hungry and homeless.

Volunteers from the Second Harvest Food Bank serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties and a team from Stater Bros. will form a "turkey brigade" to unload the 125-turkey donation. The Stater Bros. team will include new president and c.o.o., Jim Lee.

As part of its national More To Share Hunger-Fighting Program, Cargill Meat Solutions, producers of Honeysuckle White turkey products, will donate the approximately 2,312 pounds of turkey to this Second Harvest Food Bank.

Stater Bros. operates 162 Supermarkets, and has more than 17,000 employees.
