Stater Bros. and Hormel Ham It Up to Feed 13,000

COLTON, Calif. -- Stater Bros. Supermarkets here has formed a partnership with Hormel Foods to help provide meals for needy families this holiday season, with donations that will feed 13,248 individuals in need and help provide meals for thousands of families at risk of hunger.

The partners will donate Hormel Cure 81 Hams during the week of December 12, to various food banks and nonprofit organizations throughout the communities served by the chain. "Stater Bros. is very happy to give back to those in need this holiday season," said Jack H. Brown, chairman of the board and c.e.o. "The Hams for Hunger campaign will help many families in need in the communities we are privileged to serve."

The amount of hams being donated was determined through in-store promotions, and all 162 Stater Bros. Supermarkets participated in promoting the Hams for Hunger campaign.

The following organizations will receive hams:
-- Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms (108 hams)
-- San Bernardino County Food Bank (108 hams)
-- Second Harvest Food Bank of Riverside & San Bernardino Counties (108 hams)
-- North County Food Bank -- San Diego County (108 hams)
-- Operation Blessing International (96 hams)
-- San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department (84 hams)
-- San Bernardino Police Department (84 hams)
-- Riverside County Sheriff's Department (84 hams)
-- Riverside County Police Department (84 hams)
-- Redlands Police Department (84 hams)
-- Grace Resource Center in Lancaster (78 hams)
-- Carol's Kitchen in Beaumont (78 hams)
