South Jersey Store Latest ShopRite to Feature Web Ordering
ELIZABETH, N.J. -- ShopRite of Medford in New Jersey is the latest of the banner's stores to feature the "ShopRite from Home" service, which allows customers to shop via the Web 24 hours a day, and then pick up and pay for their groceries within four hours.
"Our customers have many demands on their time," noted ShopRite of Medford owner David Zallie in a statement. "ShopRite from Home has been popular in other ShopRite stores, and, as we move toward renovating the store and expanding our offerings, ShopRite from Home is an ideal complement."
The service offers online shoppers over 35,000 products, available at the same prices as in the stores -- including advertised specials and coupons, and PricePlus discounts. Employees that ShopRite calls "specially trained professional shoppers" select and bag the products.
Customers pick up and pay for their orders in a designated area of the store's parking lot. "There's no need to even get out of your car," said Zallie. Pickup at ShopRite of Medford is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, until 7 p.m. on Sundays.
To deal with potential out of stocks, when placing an online order, customers can suggest alternatives to replace any unavailable products, or a personal shopper might contact them to go over options.
The service, which is available to holders of ShopRite's PricePlus card, costs $10. Coupons are redeemed at pickup, and shoppers have the option of paying by cash, check, or credit or debit cards. The grocer said the system employs secure servers to protect shoppers' personal information.
Zallie characterized the feedback from the approximately 100 Medford customers who've used it in its first few weeks as "overwhelmingly positive."
ShopRite, the 43-member, 190-store retail cooperative whose corporate and distribution arm is Wakefern Food Corp., has offered an online food-shopping service since 2002. ShopRite of Medford is the 37th supermarket in the cooperative to offer the service.
